Mia Buonaiuto was raised in the red mud pits in Santa Fe, helping her parents dig for clay from which they made their living making figurative sculpture.
After several years of rebellion against the arts, delving into Philosophy, Forensics and Psychology she finally accepted that all she really wanted to do was paint.
Mia now lives in Fayetteville Arkansas were she gained a BFA in Painting at the University of Arkansas.
She has been awarded, among others, full scholarship to attend Mt. Gretna School of Art in Mt. Gretna, PA, and the Alcia Oldham Yoes scholarship for Best in Show at the University of Arkansas BFA awards. Her work has been exhibited around the country and she has an upcoming solo show at the Arts Center of the Ozarks, in Bentonville, AR.
Mia has now lived in Fayetteville for seven years but will often say it's only been about four because she's embarrassed that she still can't understand the color green.
